The National Hospital of Traditional Medicine (NHTM) is the leading hospital of traditional medicine for the whole country of Vietnam - a WHO (World Health Organization) collaborating centre for Traditional Medicine (TRM) in Vietnam. The hospital has 23 departments and three centers, divided in 3 sections: clinical, sub-clinical, and functional section. With a cadre of respectable professors, PhDs, masters, level II-doctors, level I-doctors, and skillful doctors, the hospital is the biggest establishment for treatment, research, and training in TRM in Vietnam.
The hospital has 470 patient-beds and various clinical departments such as Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Acupuncture and Vitality Preservation, Geriatrics, Intensive Care Unit, etc. The hospital is equipped with synchronous and modern facilities, supporting the application of diagnosis and treatment clinically and evaluation of TRM scientifically.
With the key missions of inheritance and research for promoting the TRM utilization, throughout over 50 years, the hospital has made a great contribution to the cause of healthcare for people by the use of TRM and integration of TRM with modern medicine. Many scientific researches at the State or Ministerial or Institute/Hospital level aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines; to set up processing protocols and methods of standardization of herbal medicines; to study for application of TRM non-medication and medication methods in treatment and prevention of common diseases, chronic and persistent diseases… were carried out and highly appreciated in TRM local and international conferences. |
